Individual Therapy
“The more you learn to trust yourself. The less you have to abandon yourself to be loved.”
-Nicole Kelly, M.A., LMFT
Come back to yourself. Build healthier love from here.
You may be tired of second-guessing your needs, losing your voice in relationships, or repeating patterns that leave you feeling anxious, depleted, or unsure of what you truly want.
Individual therapy offers a thoughtful place to understand what you have been carrying, strengthen self-trust, and make choices that better support your wellbeing, relationships, and future.
You do not have to be in a relationship or in the middle of a crisis to begin individual therapy.
You may be here because you are:
Tired of questioning your instincts, needs, or decisions.
Repeating relationship patterns you promised yourself you would not repeat.
Navigating heartbreak, separation, divorce, grief, or a major life transition.
Struggling to set or follow through on boundaries.
Carrying the emotional weight in your relationships, family, or work.
Feeling anxious, disconnected, lonely, or uncertain about what comes next.
Trying to understand why certain relationships feel so hard to leave, repair, or trust.
Wanting to date, love, and relate from a more grounded place.
Ready to better understand yourself—not because something is wrong with you, but because something in you deserves care.
You do not need the perfect explanation for why you are seeking support. You only need a place where you can be honest about what is no longer working.
You may be here because…
In-person therapy in Charlotte, NC, and secure online therapy for clients throughout North Carolina.
Self trust changes what you are willing to accept.
When you have spent a long time adapting to other people’s needs, moods, or expectations, it can become difficult to hear your own voice clearly.
You may know something feels off but struggle to name it. You may speak up, then question yourself—or set a boundary and feel guilty for holding it. You may want love deeply while finding yourself in relationships that ask you to abandon too much of yourself.
Individual therapy offers space to understand these patterns, reconnect with your needs and values, and make choices with greater clarity and self-respect.
Self-love is not simply a feeling. It is the practice of becoming more loyal to yourself.
Healthy love is not intensity alone. It is built through emotional safety, honesty, consistency, respect, and mutual effort.
What we can explore together…
Individual therapy can support you as you navigate:
Relationship anxiety, attachment concerns, and fear of abandonment.
Dating patterns and uncertainty about choosing a healthy partner.
Breakups, separation, divorce, relational grief, and starting over.
People-pleasing, over-functioning, and difficulty prioritizing your own needs.
Boundaries, communication, self-worth, and emotional clarity.
Life transitions, identity shifts, family dynamics, and difficult decisions.
The impact of past relationships on how you trust, connect, protect yourself, or ask for what you need today.
This is not about becoming guarded or afraid to love. It is about becoming wiser in love—more able to recognize what feels safe, reciprocal, and aligned.

“Healthy love does not ask you to become smaller, quieter, or less yourself to keep it.”

My Approach to Individual Therapy
I’m Nicole Kelly, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Repair Room Therapy. I offer warm, compassionate, attachment-informed individual therapy for people who want to better understand themselves and the relationships that shape their lives.
Even when we meet one-on-one, relationships matter. Your experiences with love, family, belonging, conflict, loss, and emotional safety can influence how you see yourself and how you move through the world.
Our work will not be about blaming you for the patterns you learned or rushing you toward a version of “healed” that does not feel true. It will be a space to get curious, build insight, practice new ways of responding, and make choices that honor your wellbeing.
How Individual Therapy Begins
-
Reach out to share a little about what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and determine whether Repair Room Therapy may be a supportive fit.
-
Your first session is a 90-minute assessment designed to help me get to know you more fully. We will explore what brings you to therapy, the goals you have for our work, your relationship and attachment history, and the experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others.
This is also a time to discuss the therapy process, answer questions, and begin creating a plan that feels thoughtful and aligned with your needs.
-
After your initial assessment, ongoing individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Together, we will make space to understand patterns, strengthen self-trust, and move toward choices and relationships that better support your wellbeing.
You do not have to have every answer before you begin. Therapy can be a place to come back to your own voice.
